Greetings all!
It's been a while since I have been on. Things have been busy!
A wonderful opportunity has come my way and I wanted opinions of those who have been around longer than me. I am in a upper-class Suburb of Columbus, Ohio. I bought my shop almost two years ago, and (knock on wood) I am happy to say I am on track to enjoy a 50% sales increase in 2006 over 2005. In a neighboring upper-class suburb, about 15 minutes from my shop, a 11-year old shop has become for sale. It's holding it's own, meaning it is not loosing money. It pays all the bills and payroll. The current owner is burnt out and hasn't marketed the biz in 5 years. It's in an amazing location, low rent (lower than what I pay currently) and is about to be the only flower shop in town as the other shop is closing (the property was sold so another mall could be built).
I don't want to rush into things, but it seems like a golden opportunity. I currently do not have a driver (I have been delivering and I have a courier service, too) while this shop has a PT driver, and a FT designer. I have a desgner at my current location. This would afford me an opportunity to have more time to market the business as the driver from the shop I may aquire could drive for both.
I am very excited! I meet with the owner this week to ask questions and so forth.
Please share any advice you have and your opinion as to the above. I have a good feeling about it--I just don't want to rush into it. I want to be sure I am ready and this is the right opportunity for me.
Thank you!
